I've been getting that error 500 message every couple of screens here on dA. Don't know if anyone else is having an issue or not, but I promise that as soon as it stops glitching on me, I'll get to my messages and comment on people's art and stuff. Just wanted to let you know what was going on.
Hell Of A Month
Well, uh, for starters, my dad had his Open Heart Surgery. It got delayed several times, which really put everyone's nerves on edge, 'cause it was always canceled last minute. When he finally went in, the operation went off without a hitch, though they did discover that the problem was worse than they had originally thought, and one of his arteries was 'ballooning'. So, he spent a week in the hospital, came home, and is doing much better. Practically back to normal, besides the seriously reduced stamina. One week after my dad got home, our dog died. She was our first dog, and since the other two passed before her, she was our last dog. Her name was Tetra (I named her after Zelda's pirate alter ego in LOZ: Wind Waker, didn't know it was a type of fish at the time :shrug: ), she was 16, she was a Maltese dog, she was incredibly smart and loved my dad more than anyone or anything on the planet. Update - Hiatus
Hey guys. Lots has happened in the last few weeks. I had two root canals, which, ow. We found out my dad needs open heart surgery, which is scary. And I started a new medication. I've been meaning to write this journal for a few days now. Gonna need to take a little break from dA for a while, not that I've been that active lately, anyway. Answering messages on here has started to seem less like a treat, and more like a chore, which says to me that it's time for a break. Plus, I haven't been feeling inspired for months. Hopefully the medication starts to work and Dad's surgery goes off without a hitch. Still hasn't been scheduled yet, but he's hoping for as soon as he finishes up this project at work. So, yeah, sorry. Thanks for everything, hope to be back on soon.
Steven Universe - Magical Girl AU
Been thinking on this for a while now. Steven Universe has a lot of Magical Girl Anime tropes, and likes to make fun of/subvert them, but what if we leaned all the way in? What if, instead of Polymorphic Sentient Rocks from Outer Space, The Crystal Gems were your basic Magical Girls? Like, girls from Earth who were chosen to represent magical concepts from another dimension (or something) and to defend the Earth and the natural magic found there that has long been forgotten by the inhabitants? Against the forces of evil (the Great Diamond Authority, who believe that the powerful natural magic inherent to Earth should belong to them for reasons)? And they won! Sorta! For a little bit, at least! But when they grew up, they had to hide their magic and pretend to be normal, and their leader, magical girl alias "Rose Quartz", died during child birth and they have to try and teach her young son how to control the magic that he inherited? The Arcana: A Mystic Romance MC Facts
I've recently become a little obsessed with the visual novel by Nix Hydra Games, "The Arcana: A Mystic Romance". Found some 'asks' for OCs/MCs, so I thought it'd be fun to answer some of them. Mostly for my own reference, but maybe some of you would find it fun, too. This is for my MC, Castor. 1. "What is their full name? What does it mean? Do they go by any nicknames/aliases?" Castor Ellison, no middle name. Castor's family is originally from the south, where surnames are the first name of the mother followed by "son" or "dotir" (I did not make this up, check out Muriel's route), so his mother's name was Elli. "Castor" is one of the stars that makes up the constellation Gemini. He is often referred to by "Cas". 2. "Do they have a familiar? What is it?" Castor's familiar is Solas, the stove salamander. He's a salamander that bursts into flames and lives in the stove of the magic shop. He eats coal. Canonically, the stove salamander doesn't have a name but is mentioned in
